With the loan and European transfer windows having closed on August 31, we at Skillequal can now fully focus on matters on the pitch.
The 2018/19 season is only a month old but there’s already been a lot to shout about from our side, with many members of our family getting off to an impressive start.
We’re going to kick-off with George Moncur, who made his 50th league appearance for Barnsley in their 4-0 win at Rochdale.
The midfielder has appeared in all six of the Tykes’ unbeaten League One campaign to date, grabbing an assist in victories over Bradford City and Gillingham.
George also notched the winner in the Yorkshire side’s 2-1 EFL Trophy win at Oldham, and netted in the 3-1 EFL Cup defeat at Blackpool.
Matt Clarke is also enjoying an unbeaten start to the third-tier, with Portsmouth having won five and drawn one of their opening six matches.
The 21-year-old has marshalled a defence which has conceded just three times in the league, and also netted the opener in the 4-0 EFL Trophy win over Gillingham.
Sticking with Portsmouth, and we helped move Andre Green to Fratton Park from Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old had impressed in pre-season and made five appearances for the Villans this term but, following a late flurry of transfer activity, he wanted to guarantee regular first-team action at a crucial stage of his development.
And the winger made his Pompey bow in the aforementioned 4-0 win over Gillingham, in which he won a converted 55th minute penalty.
We fully support Andre’s decision and we wish him all the best with Kenny Jackett’s promotion chasing side.
Following his big move from Peterborough United to Derby County in late July, Jack Marriott has since made his Rams debut.
The striker, who bagged 33 goals in all competitions last term, started EFL Cup wins against Oldham Athletic and Hull City, plus made his Championship bow as a substitute in the victory over Ipswich Town.
Following a slow start points (not performance) wise, Nathan Jones has got his Luton Town side on a roll in League One.
The Hatters sit in the top-10 of the table following recent wins against Shrewsbury Town and Southend United – matches midfielder Glen Rea played out the duration.
Elsewhere in League One, Joe Pigott added to his winning goal on the opening weekend with a great strike in the 2-1 defeat against promotion favourites Sunderland.

Joe, 24, has also scored in both of the Dons’ EFL Cup matches – a 2-1 win at Portsmouth and 3-1 defeat at home to Premier League outfit, West Ham United.
The evergreen Matt Bloomfield has helped his Wycombe Wanderers side steady the ship following promotion to the third tier.
Now in his 15th season with the Chairboys, the midfielder scored in his side’s 1-1 draw at Plymouth Argyle and assisted the goal in the 1-1 draw at home to the aforementioned Luton.
The 34-year-old also has an EFL Third Round tie against Norwich City to look forward to – a tie which will excite the former Ipswich Town player.
To finish off our round-up, Manchester United first-team coach Michael Carrick has appeared on ITV Granada to talk about Carrick’s Boot Room – his foundation’s campaign to get football equipment to kids in deprived areas.
