With England’s successful journey at this summer’s World Cup, you may not have realised that clubs and players up and down the country are well underway with their preparations for the 2018/19 season.
One player who is starting pre-season in different surroundings for the first time is central defender Harry Lennon, who has made the move from Charlton Athletic to fellow League One side, Southend United.
The 23-year-old has signed a three-year deal and is relishing the challenge of playing for the Roots Hall outfit, who ended last term in good form.

Elsewhere in the third-tier, defender Glen Rea has signed a new two-year deal with Luton Town, who our own Nathan Jones guided to promotion last term.
The 23-year-old was an ever-present in the Hatters’ promotion-winning campaign last term and is looking forward to representing Town at a higher level.
It’s been just over 13 months now since Michael Carrick’s Testimonial took place in front of a sell-out crowd at Old Trafford.
The midfielder, who retired from playing at the end of last season to take up a place on the Red Devils’ coaching team, recently spoke to us about the Michael Carrick Foundation, of which £1.5 million was raised for from the match.
Michael’s foundation has recently announced a partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation, which will bring free football to children in North Shields and Byker – areas where he grew up.
At Aston Villa, Republic of Ireland youth international Tyreik Wright, plus brothers Harrison and Myles Shona have all signed scholarship forms with the club.
All three have big potential and we wish them luck as they get started with the Midlands side of which current client, Keinan Davis, played 15 matches for last season.

The Republic of Ireland international is now fighting his way to full fitness and is looking forward to being back in a claret and blue shirt in the 2018/19 season.

West Ham United captain Mark Noble is back in pre-season under new manager Manuel Pellegrini and scored from the spot in the Hammers’ opening friendly against FC Winterthur.
The Irons skipper, who is setting out on his 15th season with the first-team, was delighted to model the club’s new kit alongside the legendary Billy Bonds.

Meanwhile, Joe Pigott netted in AFC Wimbledon’s impressive 4-2 victory against Championship side, Reading. This will be the striker’s first full campaign with the Dons having signed from Maidstone United in January.
